I went to the doctor yesterday and she said my pulse was 102 and my blood pressure was 88/66. They did an ekg and it came back abnormal, she said extremely inconsistant. She said that I either had a heart attack or that my electrolytes are low. I went to the doctor on a saturday, she told me to call back Monday so they can get me in first thing Tuesday morning for a treadmill stress test. It has still not all completely soaked in. I have been going to the doctor with breathing difficulty, chest pain, back pain, heart racing, and fatique. Please respond if you can, I will be very appreciative. I am a 24 year old female. Thanks for reading.

Let us know how your repeat stress test goes. I have another one tomorrow as well. I am not at all nervous about it and expect to be given a clean bill of health this time....Try to relax. Rent a movie, go for a short walk, get your nails done, call a friend. Going for the stress test when you are "all stressed" will not give a realistic reading and they may decide to resechedule if you are too worked up.

hello.
you seem to be very young to suffer an heart attack. i hope, for your safety, it isn't! your symptoms were like mine several months ago, but my BP was elevated. i also thought i had suffered an heart attack, but was diagnosed as anxiety/panic sufferer.
i had all test and passed. the stress test takes about 2 hours and really drained me of my energy, mainly becuase i was very anxious at the time.
please post again with your results. good luck!

I had my stress test and they said that my t waves were inverted before, during, and after the test. My doctor told me she did not know what was causing it, and that i needed to have an ekg done once a year, and if I started to have more chest pain, shortness of breath, and sweating to go to the emergency room. I talked to my aunt, who has congestive heart failure, and she told me to go to a cardiologist. I don't know what to do or think. Any advice would be appreciative. Thank you for posting.

low electrolytes, chemisty and potassium can cause heart problems. you NEED to see a cardiologist. we are not doctors but im sure myself and others are willing to help answerng any question you have.
there are other test that can show heart damage from heart attacks. remember, when someone has an heart attack, a portion of the heart muscle is starved from oxygen(lack of blood flow) and dies. the area around that muscle now must work harder to compensate the lose. they can take:
*chest xrays-shows damage and enlargment.
*radi0 imaging of the heart-you are injected with a dye and they can monitor the flow in the heart.
*echo cardiogram-another monitoring setup.
these are the ones i had gone thru and got a good bill of health. as you CARDIOLOGIST to do these tests!
good luck and keep posted!

They checked my electrolytes and they were normal. They took pictures with the radioactive dye when I went for my stress test, and they said they were ok. I have not had a chest x-ray or ultra sound yet, but I made an appointment with a cardiologist instead of going back to my family doctor. Does the pictures with the radio active dye always show when something is wrong or can some things be overlooked and that is why they perform the ultra sound and x-ray? My blood pressure has been ranging from 88/62 to 94/66 with my pulse being anywhere from 64-115 right after getting out of bed. I feel tired all the time, light headed, have a constant pain in my chest, and just feel sick most days. If anyone can give me any ideas, I would be greatly appreciative. Thanks for all your posts so far.

KMNorris,
This sounds VERY similar to what I experienced last summer... I was 24 at the time as well. I had every heart test imaginable done- even a heart catherization... I was finally diagnosed w/ Neurocardiogenic Syncope after a tilt table test and put on a beta blocker. I also have fibromyalgia and have been told that some of my problems could have been related to that. The heart meds do help... they keep my heart rate regulated and I haven't had one of my episodes in a while.
HOWEVER, my PCP didn't listen to me at all.. Find a good cardiologist... if you don't feel like the first one you see doesn't listen to you- find another who will... It took me two tries!
Good luck- and keep us posted!

Thanks for your reply on the neurocardiogenic syncope, I looked it up online and it fit me and my mom perfect. I go on the 26th of this month to the cardiologist. Do you have any problem with working a fulltime job? Does the medicine(beta blocker) seem to help with the fibromyalgia? I have irritable bowel syndrome, Meniere's disease, back problems(scoliosis, shmorls nodes, and bone spurs), and muscle spasms. Thanks again for all of your help.

This is what my ecg results showed:
Vent. rate 83bmp
PR interval 164ms
QRS duration 80 ms
QT/QTc 372/437 ms
P-R-T axes 60 49 107
Normal sinus rythym
Septal infarct, age undetermined
abnormal ecg
They said I had inverted T-waves, and my report said there is some attenuation of the uptake in the anterior wall secondary to overlying breast tissue. Any one have any idea as to what this means? Thanks again.

Itmeans that your breast was in the way and it showed a defect but it cannot be determined if it is due to the breast or if it is due to actual heart damage.
