I'm a 38 yr old male in decent physical shape and have been on a beta blocker for 20 yrs and ace inhibitor the last 5 for hypertension. I do not smoke but drink red wine 3 times per week. My cholesteral profile has been up and down the last few yrs and most recently about a 5.0 but getting better.

My question is that lately (the last 3-4 months or so) when i do anything physical like walk on treadmill, chop and stack wood, wash car etc., i seem like i get so exhausted so easily. I feel like my heart is beating so hard and i sometimes cant catch my breath. Early signs of CHD ? I'm on my feet all day and am always active. My diet is decent, fiber, water, fruits and veg etc. I just dont feel like my heart is as efficient as it should be. i get real nervous lately when I try to push myself riding the bike or doing anything overly phsical. I've had to lay down after alot of exertion and sometimes i feel like i'm having almost a panic attack cause of the exertion. I had a stress test 4 yrs ago and passed with flying colors. I just recently had the pro-reactive c blood test and it was incredibly low. I'm just not to sure and my doctor just gave me a quick phsical and said my heart sounded great. That took all of 5 minutes. I just need to be reassured. My doctor said any further tests would be not neccesary since i have no chest pain or dizziness. what do you think ? thx alot........

Anrews I think you should go see a cardiologist and have an arteriography to see if you have any coronary ateries patialy clogged by plaque which is cholesterol and tryglecerides sticky gooey substances.
Fruits and veggies and vigorous exersise wont help anything at all if you have damaged artery walls on which the plaque sticks. However, eating oatmeal everyday will greately reduce your "bad" (LDL or Low Density Lipoproteins), cholesterol levels.
Also I like to advise you to exersise moderately until all the above are rulled out!
