I was just wondering if anyone has heard of your heart being on the right side? My father had a heart attack 15 years ago and when the paramedics came to check his blood pressure ,he had none! They of course checked his chest for heart sounds and didnt find any untill they were on the right side. After numerous test it was determined that all of his vital organs are on the opposite side of what most peoples are.I ,myself have never heard of such a thing.Just Curious!

It is called Situs Inversus and depending on where you look, they say it affects 1 in 7000-10000. When all of the organs are "flipped", also called mirror-image organs, then there aren't usually health problems associated with it. When only the heart is flipped, it seems to be linked to problems.
Some researchers at Harvard have been working on discovering why this happens and one of them suspects that drugs such as previcid during pregnancy may influence it. More than you needed to know!
