Does anyone know if this is as contagious as herpes on the genitals? An ex lover told me that his ex-wife has it on her lower back, was never cultured or blood work done, it was just looked at and she was given Valtrex. The last time we were together was two years ago.They did not use protection, and neither did we. He has no symptoms and other woman he has been with have not had symptoms. the doc is testing me for herpes for some tears..I am so scared, I am totally immobilized. I can't get anything done but just sit here in a panic.. please help if anyone has seen this type of herpes, an itchy rash over her tailbone. Someone please help.

oddly, and embarrassing enough, I have my outbreak in that exact spot. Just at the top of the buttock crack, at the sacrum. Mine started out by feeling like acne that itched, but when I had it checked, my doc said herpes. I was floored. mY hubby isn't so bothered by it, I think it is denial. We had been married for over a year and together for three before I had a outbreak. I hate this whole thing, but there isn't much I can do now. I find that stress brings on the outbreak. This won't help ya much, and I can't really tell you much more than that.
