hi
I had to have Bypass surgery after having a stent put in in 2004. I had every test and my docs said no heart problems, just GERD. But my regular dr. gave me some Nitro Glycerine just in case, and told me to take aspirin. I began to have severe Unstable Angina one night and what saved my life was taking the aspirin and the Nitro. I stupidly did not go to the ER that night, and luckily did not have heart attack. I am a very healthy person with low BP and low cholesterol. My LAD was blocked.
Anyway, I am doing fine. I split the 25 mg. Metropolol pill in half and take 1/2 twice a day, and an extra one if my heart starts pounding for some reason. I did not do well on Lipitor, and take plain Niacin instead, and my HDL is now 88!!!!. I also could not take the Metropolol ER. If I feel "too anxious", everyonce in a while i take a Klonopin, smallest dose, and split it in half, which helps a lot.
Heart disease often does not show up even with all the tests. You can rule out a heart problem if the Nitro does NOT work, than its probably anxiety or GERD.

I am a 47 year old female suffering from Crohn's disease (including ileostomy). I am now suffering from high heart rate and anxiety/depression. My doctor started me on metropolol 25mg twice daily with no results, now I'm taking 50mg twice daily and still not seeing the best results (heart rate 113 this morning).
I was on very high doses of prednisone (actually overdosed) in the past causing much the same symptoms I am now suffering and believe this adrenal gland may be part of my problem. I have woken to a rapid heart, high anxiety, and many tears and a jittery, shaking, sickly feeling I just can't shake. I have trouble sleeping or am just frightened about the wakening, but this does wake me early every morning. I have been suffering big-time depression though I have always suffered depression and take 45mg of Mirtazapine (Celexa), and 10mg of Clonazepam for years now. I am taking a heart monitor home tonight for 24 hours hoping to find some answers. How does someone check this adrenal gland for problems? Could my Celexa or Clonazepam be part of my problems?
