Has this condition left you were you're unable to work and with the possibility you may not be able to return to work? If so, yes you need to go ahead and file because sometimes the process can take a long time in order to get SSDI. Also be sure that you doctors agrees with the fact that you are unable to work due to this condition. You will need all the medical documention you can get and your doctors help as well. Make sure you keep all appts and do whatever your doctor suggests. Also if you're on medications that's another thing because alot of medications cause drowsiness and recommends you don't drive or operate machinery. If you get turn down the first time then get yourself a disability lawyer. You don't have to pay them nothing up front only if they win your case.

I suggest trying a chiropractor for the cts. I had cts several years ago, and he helped me. My girlfriend was already scheduled for cts surgery, went to my chiropractor, and she was able to cancel the surgery. It's generally a pinched nerve and if you can "scoot" things around in your wrist, it releases the pinched nerve. May take a few days to get better, though, since the nerve is usually inflamed. My chiro showed me the technique, so when I start getting pains in my thumb and hand again, I know what to do to release the nerve. My worst problem turned out to be the wheel mouse I was using. I used that wheel constantly to move up and down on pages. I had to purchase a different type mouse, one with a "ball" on it. Don't like it nearly as well, but after several weeks of the nerve having to calm down, I haven't had any more trouble. I had to use my wheel mouse a few months ago and the pains started back up within an hour.
