I was just diagnosed today with Streptococcal Arthritis. I finally have a diagnosis. Anyone else have this? I would like to talk to people that are going through this and see if anyone can offer advice. Thanks:).

Hi again. I am kinda frustrated because it is very hard to find information about this. I found a bit. I am really kinda confused. I have been suffering for about 5 years w/o a DX and I am concerned about permanant damage. Please does anyone have any information. I searched the CDC and a national Arthritis website etc...and found virtually nothing. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. Thank you. I just feel very lost and kinda scared. Going for bone scan and and EKG to determine any heart damage from carditis.

I had septic arthritis a few years ago...I had a cut on my leg and had to have stitiches...as few months later my knees hurt so bad I couldn't walk..I called the doctor and he sort of dismissed it but I am one who will not leave something alone until I get to the bottom of it. I researched and read about septic arthritis, infectious arthritis...what ever you want to call it and found that it can be caused by strep or any other infection including diabetes which I have and candidas...which I also have. I started on a round of Keflex and with a few days I was back to normal...[Now to present day[/U]. Since November 07 I have been dealing with my left knee hurting. I finally went to the doctor who referred me to an ortho...who did xrays and said I had level 4 arthur in my left knee and l have level 3 arthur in my right. They started hyalran injections the first of April. I have had 4 injections and have seen no improvement...I started thinking about the issue a few years ago and how bad my knee hurt. I am not negating the fact that I do have arthiritis but should it hurt like this? I started taking Keflex this last weekend to see if I do have the septic arthritis thing going on again..I am 60 years old and still work and have a busy life teaching 7/8 grade in an inter city school in Phoenix, Arizona...I need some relief from the knee pain and if I have to heal myself with my own research then so be it. I only have a few days left of the antibiotic so if it starts working (like it did those years ago) I will make an appointment with my primary care doctor and we will have a sit down and make this work. He is the kind of doctor who loves the fact that I do the research first then come to see him. Get on line and google in the works septic arthritis and infectious arthritis and you will be amazed at the information you will get...
