Hey everyone im very depressed that im going to have a 5th surgery on my foot. It all started out as a bunion that had to be removed and then a non union and my 1st doc cut my first to to short, so i found a second doc who is put 3 bone grafts in my foot and now my body is rejecting them and i had to have bone taken from my leg to graft back into my foot. Has anyone eles gone through anything like this? I could really use so words of encouragement right now!:( Thanks, Tessa

Tessa: Keep your chin up and hope for the best. I sorta know what you are going through. I am also on my second doc and he has to do surgery on my foot on the 21st, next Friday and then he will finish up by doing surgery again in Sept. But, like you this is multiple times for me. This is my 5th surgery not even counting the two times I had to go in for #1, one of my pins broke while it was being taken out and #2, one of the screws that was put in worked itself out before the union. So, I know just how you feel. Keep posting b/c there are lots of nice people on these threads and they have been very good in making me feel welcome to the Health Boards. Good luck and let us all know how you do.

Tessa,
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I can only imagine how distressing it is for you, but I'm sending positive vibes your way.

Tessa, I'm so sorry for your foot problems. It is so discouraging but keep hoping for the best! I always say it takes someone with "feet trouble" to understand. It is so terrible that you're having to go through all of this. All because of a bunion surgery? When was your first surgery? When is your next surgery? Bless your heart! I feel for you!

My case isn't as bad as your's sounds, but I can sort of relate. I had my first bunion surgery on January 9th, thinking that I would be NWB for four weeks and then start getting back to normal. It didn't work that way though. On February 25th, I had a second surgery to remove and replace the screw and graft some chipped bone from where I hit my foot about three weeks out from the first surgery.
I am now in a hard cast and haven't walked on two feet since the morning of January 9th. I'm not necessarily depressed about it, but am so tired of the crutches and not being somewhat normal. I am looking at about another three and a half to four weeks before I can become PWB.
I wish you well and hope that you are on the road to healing and feeling better soon.

My first bunion surgery was a complete disaster.
I had the first and second toe bone cuts.
I had an external fixation device for the great toe.
A brutal device with five large screws sticking out of the foot.
One month after the initial surgery that I was freaked out to have done in the first place.........I had non union of the great toe and had to have a complete new surgery. I could hardly bear dealing with the situation!!
New large screws were added which didn't allow my ankle to bend properly with the cam walker.
So, six weeks turned into three months. Recuping the foot and getting proper range of motion in the foot and ankle took 6 months (painful). However, I am 2 1/2 years post op and my foot is just great. I never thought that I would walk again.
I had the second foot done with three toes with bone cuts. That went well and the recup was so much faster.
I FEEL YOUR PAIN!!!

Thank you all for the encouragement, my surgery is going to be on April 4th, so wish me luck!!! Im trying to be positive and think this will be my last surgery and i will be walking in about 6 to 8 months!!!!
I wanted to say i also had an exturnal fixator and bot that was very strange!! But for right now im going to keep my head high and keep on crutching, lol. With this surgery they are also admitting me to the hospital for a few days cause they said the pain will be worse then ever before(that scares me cause it was bad every time). So keep an eye out for a new post when i am up to it after the surgery!:)
