I am currently 28 years of age, male, married and happy with my life, except for one thing, my weight. I weighed 224 2 1/2 years ago when I was told about the south beach diet. I followed it, and after all was said and done I ended up weighing 165 pounds (I looked and felt a tremendous amount better).

The problem is now that I can't stick to that plan because I am now married and my wife doesn't have a problem eating different foods considering that they don't go straight to her stomach. I don't have much time for exercise because I now work 62 hours a week for my job (hey at least I got the promotion right?...LOL) and to top it off it seems that every diet, or whatever I try it doesn't work. I am now back up to close to 200 pounds and I'm becoming depressed about it. I need help from anyone that can help me.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you again.

I know it's important to stick on a workout plan for losing weight, but it's hard to do

Many people believe that maintaining a weight loss is more difficult than losing it in the first place. I tend to agree. The vast majority of people who lose weight gain it back. It is so easy to gain it back. You slip back into old eating habits and slack off on your workouts and, before you realize what happened, you are back to your previous weight or close to it. It is frustrating and depressing. But, that is exactly WHY you have to undergo a lifestyle change. The way of eating you used to lose weight will have to be your way of eating for life. You cannot lose weight one way and then go back to old eating habits once you reach goal weight and expect to maintain your new weight.

The good thing is that you can change it - you can reverse the gaining trend and start to lose again. It is possible. You know what it takes - you have already done it! South Beach is a wonderful way of eating and works well for many people. But it has to be your lifestyle.

You are making excuses. You don't have time to work out. You can't eat well because you are married. Nothing works. Do you see how negative you are? See how many reasons and excuses you have for not being fit and healthy? Do you want to be overweight for the rest your life? If you do, then those excuses and negative self-talk will enable your overweight lifestyle very well.

You know what - you may have to eat differently than your wife; you may have to get up an hour earlier to go to the gym or cut down on your work hours. There are sacrifices to being fit. Do you think anyone who maintains a fit and healthy lifestyle makes the kinds of excuses you do? Some people I know get out of bed at 4:45am and are in the gym on the treadmill at 5:30. They don't make excuses about not having time to workout. They find the time.

You need to quit with the excuses, find the time and re-commit to your eating plan. No one has ever said that being fit and healthy is easy. It is easy to be lazy and make excuses. Don't take the easy way out.
