A little background:
My son was diagnosed with SVT on his 8th day of life. It was awful: we went into intensive care at a major children's hospital for 2 weeks where they were fighting it all the way. Basically they couldn't keep him out of the SVT and in a decent sinus rhythm. They did those awful cardio-conversions on him several times a day and night. They finally got him stabilized with Inderal and Flecainide. When we brought him home, he got meds at 6am, 8am, noon, 6pm, 8pm and midnight. It was grueling and incredibly stressful to add this on top of just the regular newborn stress!!
He is now six months old and off the Inderal all together as of Wednesday. He wore a Holter monitor for the last 24 hours to see if there have been any episodes. Hubby and I have not been able to detect any, but you never know. So we are anxiously awaiting the results of the monitor. If its clean he gets to go off the Flecainide in 3 months, pending one more clean Holter at that time!!!!!! I can hardly stand it!!! The cardiologist said that 80% of babies tend to outgrow this, but I have not allowed myself to believe him up to now.
I just had to let you guys know the latest, because you get how difficult and scary it can be. I haven't been able to really tell anyone this news because most people don't get it, but know you all will!!:D
