i am 19 years old and i have just got diagnosed with pcos. i really have no idea what i am to expect or anything. My boyfriend has been very helpful even though he really does not understand it.
I would just like some advice on what i should do. When the doctor told me that i had pcos he didn't recommend anything or try telling me what to do next.
Pleas please please could someone just give a direction to go as i am very scared.

Hi Michelle,
Get a better doctor for one, You need to be able to sit and talk to your doctor about whats going on. My doctor was useless so I changed and now I feel like someone actually wants to help me sort this out.
I was diagnosed last year, My doctor put me on dianette pill and its got everything back into action as normal.
Best thing to do is read lots of information from the web on PCOS, that's how I really learnt about it. It's also comforting to know that there are other women out there going through it too.
It is a bit scary at first but you learn to live with it, I promise... I just think of it as yet another challenge!

Ditto - getting another doctor!
I remember being diagnosed in my late teens and I had a horrid OB/GYN. She looked at me and announced I had PCOS and that I would never have a child.
That was it! Well, I forgot they wanted my insurance co-payment. :D
Thankfully the valuable information about me never having a child is NOT true. As you can see from reading the boards many successfully have children and not everyone with PCOS have fertility problems. Obviously, we had a doctor uninformed about PCOS.
I would suggest going to the library and/or local bookstore to pick up a book on PCOS and perhaps insulin resistance if you are having difficulty maintaining your weight. There is a wealth of information on the net as well.

Hey, i know what its like to find out you have Pcos, i'm 22 and i found out last year, and not have a good doctor. its good that you are switching doctors, thats what i had to do because they never gave me the information and help i really needed. Having a supportive boyfriend is helpful, mine was supportive and wanted to learn everything i was learning about it and i think that helped me alot with everything. good luck
