I have severe thigh, buttock and lower back pain when im in bed, i am taking 2 strong painkillers plus 2 ibuprofen to get to sleep and also get up to stretch my back and take more during the night. I had a baby 7 months ago, c-section, had pelvis probems throughout pregnancy. I am so tired, physio says its mechanical, been going on for 6 months now, at end of tether...

Hi. How has the doctor determined it only mechanical? Has an MRI been done on your spine? If not, I would suggest asking for one, and if this doctor is not willing to get one, then change doctors. Six months is more than enough time to see if physical therapy would help or not. It's time to see what's going on back there.

Wow, it sounds like you're contending with a lot. A young baby and a painful back. That is a lot to have to manage. One of my first injuries was when my oldest son was about 13 months old and I wish now I would have been more assertive with the Doctors and absolutely requested an MRI ( all they would do was an X-Ray), which of course doesn't reveal a lot as it relates to herniations and so forth. So, I just spent a great deal of time in pain, sometimes I couldn't even be moved. It was horrible.
I would definitely recommend an MRI if you haven't already had one, that will reveal more as to what's going on. You're in my thoughts!

Hi Gemmar
Sorry to hear you are going through so much pain.
It is very tiring having to put up with it everyday isnt it.
I have had chronic lower back pain an mostly left buttock an thigh pain for the last 3 years and nothing has helped.
I have to try and sleep on my right side and mostly sit on my right buttock.
Have you had any treatment for it?

Wow, what you wrote could have come from my keyboard, except my only child is 19...and its been 4 years for me. I'm at my wits end as well....the pain is worse than labor and never ends.

You definitely need to get an MRI, sounds like you have a bad disk down by your Lumbar/sacrum that is maybe pinching your sciatic nerve, I had this same problem, pain was absolutely unbearable and I spent many sleepless nights crying and praying. I wanted to cut my leg off at times, that's how bad it was for me. I would suggest looking around in your area for a treatment called Acuscope Treatments, its a form of electrotherapy that has done wonders for me. I was so impressed with the dramatic reduction of pain that I went and spent an arm and leg to buy the equipment for my home. Try to goolge it and find it in your area, it is a harmless treatment that I absolutely am so grateful for trying it.

I agree that an MRI is probably in order. It will give you and your doctor a better idea of just what's going on. It does sound like you may have a problem disc squishing your nerves. Could you be little more specific about where your pain is? Front or back of the thigh? Which is the worst - the thigh, buttock, or back?
