View Full Version : Headache - Day 3

Hi -
I'm on day 3 of a headache. The pain is on the right side of my head at the base of my skull and at my temple. I can't say the pain is excruciating, just persistent. I wake up with it and go to sleep with it. If I take 2 motrin, it alleviates the pain enough so that I barely know it's there, but I can feel that it's just lurking beneath the surface waiting for the medication to wear off. I'm grateful I can at least alleviate it, but really wish it would go away. This happens occasionally, sometimes for a day or so, once it lasted for four weeks. Anybody else get anything like this? What is it and how do I get rid of it?:(

Hi,
how often and how much of the advil do you take? Be careful of rebound headaches.
I get status migranious, for those my nerologist orders home health, iv infusion with medications. Usually after 3 or 4 days of that it will break the migraine.

If I wake up with a headache, I let it go for a few hours before I take anything, because sometimes, it will go away on its own. If the headache is there, but not terribly painful, I'll hold off until I need a break from it. I don't like taking medication too often. I realize that it could cause the rebound. At most, I'll take 2 motrin at a time, and no more than 6 in any one day. But most often, maybe 3 in a day. I worry about even that much if my headache lasts over a week. That's a lot of medication.
