Hello, all--
I've been reading some contradictory things about the migraine diet. What has been your experience with wheat/gluten, eggs, and milk products? Are those things best avoided as well?
Thank you for any thoughts on this!

Hi Violet,
I can only speak from my own experience. The primary migraine triggers that we have all heard and read about - chocolate, cheese, MSG etc all set me off - but dairy eggs and wholegrain products are fine.
What I find annoying is how just about every naturopath will say "for God's sake don't eat wheat" as though wheat were the root cause of every ailment known to man. I think it's complete bull unless of course a person does have a gluten allergy - ie, coeliac disease.
Cheers ... Scott

Thank you, Scott!:D Yes, I have found that odd as well...I was having some serious trouble planning meals with so many food options eliminated! (My chiro had even said to cut out all grains of any kind, including oats, barley, etc. Yikes!)

Yeah, sounds ridiculous to me. I guess if you really want to know for certain what exactly might be setting you off, you'd have to do an elimination diet. Not much fun.

I found that eggs and bleached flour can trigger a migraine within hours. I cut them out and it really helped.
