My husband had a KUB last week & 2 stones was found. 5mm & 8mm in left kidney and they put a stent in. Yesterday he had another KUB & lipotripsy done. The 5mm was broken up, the 8mm moved up into the kidney and now they see several other spots in there, assuming they are smaller stones. They want him to have another KUB done on Monday & remove the stent. Then following week have another lipotrispsy done to get 8mm stone. How often can you have KUB's and lipotripsy, (how far apart should this be done). My husband had a heart attack in 2001 and has stent. Is there any risk to him having these procedures done this often?

I have had lithos as close as 3 weeks apart. Have also had muliple lithos over the past 10 years as with my great genetics I keep creating more stones.
Unfortunately no clear information that I know of mentions how close the procedures can be done together.
I would suggest contacting both the urologist and your heart doctor and voice your concerns and see if you can get more information.
Drink plenty of water and home made lemonade is also suppose to be good also. I'd say drink beer as it makes you goto the bathroom alot but I doubt a doctor would suggest this :)
Good luck!

if i understand it right
lipo is timed by your heart rate
they have to zap you at a special time or it can give a person abnormal heart arrthima
ask your heart doctor or doctor to make sure he can

I have had litho one week apart with no ill effects. I had 4 large stones. 2 in each kidney and they were too large to pass. My stent was put in place before the 1st litho. My dr. told me it needed to stay in a while until the pieces of the stones passed and I had 1 stone left so I asked him to do it again the following week. He did and I had that 1st stent in place about 5 weeks. Since that time, I've had 4 more lithos and 2 more stents ! Plus, I still have a small stone in my left kidney.
I have read that lithotripsy can cause high blood pressure. I don't know if that is true or not.
Ask your husband's cardiologist what he thinks...
