My wife, Beverley, has had TLE for 40 years. She's 52 now. In August 2005 she underwent a hippocampectomy for temporal lobectomy (R) that has significantly reduced her seizures. However, since it is bilateral, she continues to have them having had two rather major "auras" this morning around 08:30-08:50 that has left her totally whacked and is now sleeping it off.
Her neurologist has put her on AROPAX (paroxetine) but the medical scheme has declined payment for "depression" medication. They say they will pay for generic citalopram but that is Cipramil and Cipramil is contra-indicated in TLE (Temporal Lobe Epilepsy) as is CILIFT, CIPRALEX and RISPADIL - in HER condition - I am not saying those drugs are contra-indicated in ALL cases of TLE, because there have been success stories too.
Does anyone know of a generic PAROXETINE for which the medical scheme will pay?
