Hi,

Last night i had had lots of red bull, etc. so my heart was already going quite fast. In fear of missing the last train, i sprinted for around 3 miles (!!) to the station. I had the normal stitch, etc. whilst running but just under a year ago i did 4 mile runs every 2 days or so, so am used to getting over these kind of pains (but i've since quit and not done much exercise for past 6 months).

I finally arrived at the station and was sweating like mad, etc.

When on the train however, i noticed a pain in my chest, mainly on the left (which has worried me thinkign it was perhaps heart problems!!) and my heart was racing, this continued throughout the night, but it's not a severe pain, just a mild but noticeable one, so was able to get to sleep fine.

This morning i woke up still feeling it (and still am as i write this).

When i breathe deeply, i get a stabbing pain on the central left part of my chest (where the heart is i believe!) and similarly when i swallow i seem to get a pain, but that seems to be generally in the centre (of the trachea, if i haven't forgotten GCSE biology).

I've been feeling pretty bad all day, and my heart rate is still relatively high!!

Not sure whats going on, but i wouldve thought it should have gone by now!!

Are the above symptoms typical of someone who's done quite strenuous exercise with very little training, or could this be an earlier sign of something worse?

thanks.

Not sure whether i'm being paranoid here!!

EDIT - im in the UK by the way, so it's nearly 5pm now. I was running to catch the 11.50pm train last night.

sounds like something to see a doctor about
if it really is a problem to you might go to the ER
better to be safe than sorry

Red Bull and other energy drinks are really dangerous (even though they are amazing for short term energy boosts) I used to drink them a lot, now I have some pretty serious heart problems. I have no idea if the two things are related, but Red Bull plus heavy running is a lot of stress on your heart, it may just be sore the same way that any ther muscle that's stressed will be sore.
It might be good to get it checked though.
