Hey there, just thought I'd post an update to our situation.
After talking to the doctor about my husbands headaches and the other symptoms the doctor decided to change his medication from Dilantin to Neurontin. Today is the first day he's taken it... but from everything I"ve read it seems to appear that Neurontin is used in conjunction with other meds to control Epilepsy. However, Neurontin is the only med he's on. I guess maybe I'm being dramatic... but I don't ever want to witness my husband have another grand mal seizure. But even more so, I don't want him to have to endure it. If there is no reason to think that Neurontin alone won't control his seizures, I'd really appreciate hearing it.
Along with the change in meds, the doctor also scheduled an immediate mri. He had it on tuesday(we live in a small town so we had to travel to another city to get it). We called the doctor on Thursday and he said everything looked okay, we havent seen the report yet but it was good to hear. I don't really know how that all works though. My husband hasn't seen a neurologist yet, so is it the lab techs who report the findings on the mri or a neurologist? I'm really pretty anxious to read the actual report.
Thanks for listening and stay healthy everyone,
T
