My partner, who doesn't have access to a computer at the moment, asked me to ask if anyone had any recommendations for an antidepressant? He has tried two SSRIs (Paxil and Zoloft) and a combo drug (effexor) and had an awful time with them (very foggy, slept all the time, dizzy). He has been on Interferon and Rebetron since mid oct and is really hitting the wall with depression. Any ideas very gratefully accepted. Wellbutrin? Is that processed in the liver?thanks!

Call the doctor and/or get a referral to a psychiatrist.

Anti-depressants are the psychiatrist's area of expertise and that is where this needs to go.

I could name a bunch of anti-depressants, but this is not adequate to assess the situation and form a response to it.

I hope this helps,

Yes, I actually was looking to see if there were any that were better or worse with the hep. Indeed, definitely a med question, but this is a small town and his doctor referred him to a (i should say "the") psych who my partner definitely (for good reason)doesn't trust(breaks confidentiality regularly, prescribes whatever he has samples of, whether or not they are appropriate, gets into business deals with clients, but that is another story) anyway that's what there is here. With other issues, the psych has done okay if asked specifically about certain drugs. My partner dreads going in to see the person and (I think) was just curious about any experiences others had had with certain antidepressants so he could ask about them. I gotta say I am curious as well, had lots of clients with other health issues on antidepressants but no one with hep, so wondering what might be appropriate. Thanks again. Annie
