Hello-
I am having a colonoscopy in April. My last one, about 5yrs ago ,was fine.
Since Late Dec. I have been having bowel changes where I don't go much and lately it is mostly diarrhea (no blood). It is obvious to me that I have some type of obstruction. My internist who I respect very much, said it is highly unlikely to be colon cancer, but of course that is my main concern.
I looked up "large bowel obstruct" on the web and found other dxs, such as bowel twisting, inflammation, diverticulitis, colon cancer. I have never had bowel problems in my life.
I DO have a somewhat large fibroid on the back of the uterus near the bowel, and at 1st, I thought it was that. - BUT the fibroid has not grown, as shown on ultrasound from previous ones.
I figure if the colon is clear, what else could it be? And can they dx twisted bowel ect. from colonoscopy alone? What other tests might they do?
I am 50yrs old, otherwise very healthy, normal wt, active and eat a mostly plant-based diet.
Any insight is appreciated.
