Howdy all-
On the news here in Canada, it is reorted that 8 units of blood, were transferd from eastern Canada to western Canada tainted with The Westnile Virus, and a person was exposed to one of these units via blood transfusion.
The Westnile virus is a newly discoved virus that effects common birds and kills them, and may be passed on to humans, it may also be passed on by the common mosquito.
That is scary, we were always aware that the common mosquito may pass on virus's, the Westnile virus and HCV virus are simular virus's.
Hantivirus, Westnile Virus, Aids, HCV,etc- makes you wonder about all the people in the last couple hundred years that were reported to die from Flu's as many of these have flu-like symtoms, and how many more virus's are still out there that we still do not know of.
Be well-

Mosquitos have been ruled out as a source of transmission of hepatitis C.

I am happy to report that it was given some attention and study.

There is soo mucg information out there a person could decide which way they want to lean, then go find studies to support their theory.

Last fall, a horse died of West Nile that was less than 200 yards from my parents home. I was told about it as we were standing in their yard slapping mosquitos.

I doubt if that horse was injecting drugs or engaged in any other immoral behavior.

I had a point to make, but forgot it. Sorry, folks! http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Wes,

Mosquitoes definitely transmit west nile virus.

I thought you were asking about whether they transmit hepatitis C.

Maybe I am a little confused about what you were asking me to comment on.

Wes-
Thats scary stuff on the horse, there is also another disease spreading among wild animals called WCD-
which means Chronic Wasteing Disease, mostly with the deer right now, if this one spreads like wild fire, all of north America is in trouble, it is simular to mad cow diease, and may be passed on to humans.
It affects the brain, the animals can be seen walking in circles until they drop,I wonder how many of these disease's are new or is it because we have better technology and are only now picking up on them.
