Do you take both? I believe that Nexium, like so many other meds, causes weight gain. They mess with our digestion. FG clasact1956 03-25-2008, 07:56 AM I was on nexium and now I'm on prilosic. I know about the digestive issue. I now have to go and get an endoscopy. I wonder if its due to the ppi's that I have been taking for years or something else. I keep getting these bubble popping fellings and then have to take a deep breath so now I have to find out whats wrong. D baylee61 03-25-2008, 07:37 PM I've been on Nexium about 5 months and I did gain about 5-6 pounds. When I got reflux it pretty much lasted 24/7 so I'm always anxious. About 2 weeks ago, I started seeing my weight drop to pre-Nexium levels without any increased exercise or diet. It might be that once the body becomes accustomed to the Nexium it no longer interferes with metabolism and weight. I work out about 60-70 minutes a day and have watched my caloric intake. I have done this for about 30 years. I'm also in menopause. My acid reflux is pretty much under control which means I have about 1 to 2 bouts a week that don't last longer than an hour or two. I'm always anxious that the reflux will reappear much more intensely, as seems to be the norm with many on these forums. I guess that those who have been "cured", or at least "symptom-free" due to PPI's, are probably no longer posting because they are getting on with their lives so we can't really know how many folks are being helping by PPI's for the longer term. |
