How long did it take after surgery for you to be able to go back to work, especially if you did alot of typing?

Basically, how long did it take for all the pain to go away?

It has been 3 1/2 weeks since my surgery on my hand and elbow and most of the time I am fine, but everyone once in awhile, I am still getting pain in my hand, especially if I type for more than 10 - 15 minutes in a row.

Is this normal to happen or does this mean that it may not heal totally?

Jeff,
What has your doctor indicated for you to be doing post surgery?

My doctors had a list of do's and don'ts and the last one told me not to be picking anything heavier than a cup of coffee with the hand that had had surgery, for 3 weeks post op. I had open release, if that makes a difference as to type of surgery....did you have a laproscopy type surgery?

I also started physical therapy about a month..or maybe it was 6 weeks post surgery to gain strength and keep scar tissue from adhering in surgical site ( tendon and nerve gliding exercises) After the first surgery on my left hand, I couldn't clap my hands because of the pain...and I still don't. I think it is because of scar tissue more in palm end of incision, so if I move my thumb or a finger, the rest get a twinge of pain too.

The only restriction my dr gave me was not to lift more than 10 lbs.

I may try to get my left arm done also at the end of april even though I do not have pain in it now.
