I was diagnosed with type 1A. I began the 48 week treatment back in 2000 using Interferon. After 24 weeks I tested negative. After 48 weeks I stopped the treatment. Six months later I again tested positive. June of this year I began another round of treatment (PEG Interferon). After 24 weeks I again tested negative. I really have no idea whether or not this will result in the 'so-called' cure. Most Doctors say that if you test negative for 2 years after treatment is stopped you enter into the 'cured' category.
I have asked if anyone with type 1A has remained negative for the required time. My Doctor says there are but I haven't met one.
Good luck!

Hi, there is a guy named Jon who used to post in here and he is geno 1a and has been viral free for a year. He used Pegintron with riba.
I have talked to others on other boards that are same same and viral free for longer than year.
Ya never know till ya try!
Take care,
Jeannie
