Thank you kind souls for your thoughts and prayers! I am in awe at this wonderful community that I am so fortunate to be a part of. I have received some good and puzzling news--The 3cm x 1cm mass (not small-that is about an inch long ) found in my neck about 10 days ago during a routine thyroid u/s is apparently gone. The ct scan with contrast dye 5 days after the u/s showed no mass-but of course I wasn't told that at the time. The ct scan was from jaw to upper chest. Several days later when I went for the u/s guided biopsy - the tech couldn't find the mass .It was the same tech who found it the first time. The radiologist then examined me, reviewed the first u/s, the ct scan and the technician's latest u/s scan and then did the scan himself. He said -the mass isn't there.You can imagine my relief and confusion. He said he would discuss with my endo. This was all done in the radiology dept of a major metro hosp. with an excellent reputation-so I assume they all knew what they were doing. Tomorrow I will learn more. I do not underestimate the power of the thoughts and prayers sent my way and DB's candle experiment-seems like the best explanation to me.
My prayers go out to those now dealing with difficult medical matters and to those awaiting results, especially DB I am hoping that you get the all clear on your mammography.

Hello Osteoblast,
I'm in awe:angel::angel::angel: what a wonderful outcome!
I can understand your confusion, though. Perhaps when you return tomorrow they'll be able to clarify it further, for you, and explain what happened. That is, if they themselves know what happened:)
Anyway, all's well that ends well and, if you feel like it, go out and celebrate with your family and friends;)

Dear Osteo~~ This is SPECTACULAR news... I too would like to know what the explanation is, if there is one. Later on I'll tell you the different things I did with the candle and aromatherapy, but I'm not claiming that was the cause of your resolution, but your result are sure fantastic. The candle is still burning, for others, you and myself.
Keep us posted on what you find out...
Miracles can and DO happen, I've seen them firsthand with my husband's many problems, and the things I did-for my husband- made the drs think I was nuts-oh well who cares what they think. Two different times I was told he wouldn't live through the night, and I was determined to counteract that with things I've learned, and that was over 18 years ago, so the drs don't always know what they are talking about.
Keep up whatever you're doing, as that may have been the thing that turned this around.
Love,
DB :angel::angel:

This is great news. I know you are very relieved even if it's puzzling. I would ask to see the CT scan and make sure your name/medical number are on it. That would be horrible if the scan was someone elses. I hope you continue to get good news tomorrow at your appointment.

Just to clarify the two u/s scan's were mine-no question . The doctors had alot of hands on time with me both re-doing the ultrasounds themselves after the tech had finished her u/s, and phys. exam of total neck area by the doctors on both occassions.
If I understand correctly ,the explanation (or theory?) lies with my autoimmune disease-hashimoto's thyroiditis. The autoantibodies have decided to not only attack my thyroid but the lymph gland in my neck too. So, the explanation is that at the first scan things were in a flare up situation and that things quieted down in the lymph node. Apparently they believe the mass was a hashimoto's reactive lymph node. Both my endo and ENT had a long talk with the radiologist who is apparently experienced in thyroid and parathyroid. The Endo said my autoimmune system is quite unstable now(both thyroid tsh and lymph node) and she will re check autoantibodies and keep a tight watch . Also my pcp has been in regular contact with the endo as this has played out. The pcp prescribed xanax to take as needed for stress and sleep while this worked its way to a conclusion. I want to always find the natural way- but lack of sleep was seriously wearing me down . Now my endo who works very closely with the pcp said because of the unstable autoimmune situation she wants me to take the xanax every day not on an as needed basis . She said that stress plays a huge role with Autoimmune activity and that she wants to see if she can get the autoimmune system to cool down . She said absolutely continue with meditation, tai chi,walking etc. but that the anti anxiety med can be effective for some in helping to quiet the AI system. For those who do not know about autoimmune diseases, one AI disease puts you at significantly higher risk for others. So, I have to listen to the endo and see if we can quiet things down. Do any of you have experience with taking xanax on a daily basis? I do not want to be drugged, I want to do all my exercise and regular stuff . Also the ENT is re-checking parathyroid function now.
With this present situation somewhat explained (?) I am continuing with the forteo . I haven't yet been told what diagnostics will be done about my L-4 rapid loss of bmd(despite big gains in hip bmd ) but I know my pcp is working on getting that moved to the next step, I just have to give her a little time .
I hope that I can be there for you dear friends as you were for me. :)
P.S.-DB I would love to hear more about your candle and aromatherapy. I am so happy for both you and your husband that he made it through those nights where it was not looking good.That must have been so very difficult! If /when you would like to share, I would love to hear what you did. I am sure that others would too. And, of course it is related to all the bone healing that we are all engaged in so it shouldn't be a problem.
