Alright.. some background on the situation, I Had been dizzy, missed periods, and etc. My doctor decided to run some tests. Well, the first tests she ran were hormones and did the cortisol to test my pituitary gland. I have been on Metformin since July and my period still hasn't came.. I have even lost 55 lbs. So these tests were to check out everything and make sure nothing else was wrong. Well all the tests came back normal except my aldesterone, it was two times as high as it should be, but they checked adrenal insufficiency and nothing was wrong with my adrenal gland. So my doctor checked my sodium , potassium, etc. Well my sodium was low- so she decided to do some sodium tests, and put me on a high sodium diet, for two days test my aldesterone and sodium, then put me on a low sodium diet and check my sodium and aldesterone again. Well she got those back and the results were this, on the high sodium diet along with 24 salt pills over two days my aldesterone was 7 ( it was 32 before and now it was in the normal range.) my sodium was 137 then also normal. Then she put me on the low sodium diet and my aldesterone went back up to 40! My sodium was 126:(. So she ordered a urine creatnine and a sodium urine test to test kidney function , and those were fine. So she was stumped, she said she had never seen anything like it. Can someone tell me why this is weird? She told me I need to eat salt, and if I don't I need to take salt tablets- she also prescribed me Florinef to try ( prescribed for Addisons, and etc.) But my adrenal function was fine! She said to try and see if this helps, she said she had never seen someones body do this. I have to go back in two weeks for more tests! blah! Has anyone been through anything like this?

You should get an ACTH stim test and get other tests of your pituitary, You did not get enough testing IMHO. Was your cortisol tested at all?

Normal doesn't necessarily mean normal for you. You should get a copy and post the levels here. What about your thyroid function? Did they do a TSH, FT3, and FT4? What were your levels and ranges. Many MDs look and see.. Normal range and dismiss it. Normal is definitely not optimal if you have symptoms and are not in the optimal window. Did they test you for Hashimoto's and Graves disease. Early stages of both are really hard to catch. You say you increased your sodium.. how? Are you taking iodine supplemented salt.. lots of it? Too much iodine can cause these issues.
It would help us help you if you get a copy of your lab work and post the values and ranges for your basic thyroid and adrenal function tests. The fact that things are off and you are catching them now.. may mean something is just starting and all things haven't kicked the bucket yet.. be it adrenal, pituitary, or thyroid. The endocrine system for your body is complex and hard to follow. Most MDs specialize in certian conditions. You may need to find an Endo that specializes in adrenal and pituitary function. Have they done an MRI or uptake scans to see what is what? I wish i could help more.. but your case is not like anything in my family or my experience. We are just AI thyroid freaks.. I am the first one to walk the adrenal dysfunction route and thyroid Hashimoto's route as well.. whee!
Sincerely,

they checked adrenal insufficiency and nothing was wrong with my adrenal gland.
How did they check for adrenal insufficiency? A simple blood test for cortisol is not diagnostic for adrenal insufficiency. You need a stimulation test to make a diagnosis.
Since you also have a loss of period, salt problems and other symptoms, it sounds to me like you should suspect a pituitary problem rather than just an adrenal problem. Adrenal insufficiency can lead to an adrenal crisis and it is something to take very seriously. I think you need to see an endocrinologist ASAP.
Have you had a blood test for prolactin, LH and FSH (sex hormones)?

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I am seeing an endocrinologist ( sorry if I forgot to mention that.) .. The tests they have done was the stimulation test, retested all my hormones, checked for adrenal insufficiency, every doctor I have been to has also tested my thyroid, just everything in general has been tested. The things that were off I have posted before, I will call my doctor today and ask her to send a copy of all the lab tests they have done- and I will post them. Thanks guys, I will keep you all updated.
