I've been having seizure-like episodes that cause all my muscles to stiffen, from head to toe. It's like when the muscles get really cold on a blustery winter day and they are hard to move. I also suffer from Occipital neuralgia and the episodes are painful accompanied by muscle spasms. The doctor and I are at this moment trying to figure out what all is going on, and we are sure several different things are being combined, confusing the matter.
These episodes would last for hours I'm sure if I didn't take vicadin to kill the pain, and tizanidine to deal with the spasms. In the past when they first started after the car accident, rear-ended, I would be in bed for 3-4 hours until it passed, pretty much comatose, passed out, whatever you want to call it, and then the stiffness stayed with me for another day. I also have a left sided head twitch, which includes the pelvis as well, when the head twitches the hips will too. This only happens when I am laying down and relaxing, otherwise the head twitch happens when relaxed and sitting.
But the seizures I have are waking ones, I know they are coming, I get queezey, or get a swimmy feeling in my head and 10 minutes or so later I am having problems. Spasms begin, pain comes, I get weak, can hardly keep my eyes open, which BTW, flutter closed if I look up, and the pain is crushing. I have to lay down for at least 90 minutes, and up to 4 hours when they've been really bad. My meds are Inderal, a beta blocker, and now Klonopin, which does seem to be helping, but its early yet, only 5 days on it.
Does anyone ever get this sort of thing, or is this more metabolic, because I've been dx'd at least with involuntary hypoxia. My pain doctor is great, and willing to take ideas, chew them around for a bit, and see if it fits. Any ideas would be welcome on the epilepsy front.
