Hello...just wondering if anyone has had any experience w/this. I am 37 years old and I have been off of birth control pills since I was 32. I was on Ortho Novum from the ages of 24 to 32 and went off just b/c I didn't want to be on them forever. In December I went to the gyno and the exam was fine, no problems found. I was considering resuming BC pills because I had a lot of PMS depression and cramps, etc. The doctor gave me two sample packets of Mircette and a prescription. I decided this month that I would start taking the Mircette. So I started my period about ten days ago (Saturday night) and began the Mircette on Sunday morning. However, the flow was sort of strange...really light, not heavy as it usually is. (Not sure if it was affected by the Mircette?) As of this past Monday, I was still bleeding, so I did some internet research and decided it must be the Mircette that was causing this, so I stopped taking it immediately. Monday was the last day that I took the pill but I am still bleeding! It's not a ton...I only notice it when I go to the bathroom. Sorry to be graphic, but I'm just wondering if this is all due to the Mircette, if anyone else has experienced this, and when I can anticipate it will stop? How long should I wait before calling the doctor? Normally my cycle is very regular, I am definitely not pregnant, and this has never happened to me before. Your advice would be appreciated! THANKS!!;)

Sometimes hormones can cause extra bleeding, reduce flow, and sometimes cause bleeding in between periods. I wouldn't worry about it.

You really shouldn't stop your medication unless you talk to you doctor first. Or ask a nurse at your clinic/hospital.

Don't hesitate to talk your doctor, that's what they're there for. :)

I have been on Mircette for about 2 months now and I can honestly say that I have only had maybe 3 weeks without bleeding. I have been bleeding very llightly like you and only when i use the bathroom, but it hasnt stopped. I recently switched from Desogen to this pill. But my doc says to that it takes 3 months for your body to adjust to a new pill. So I have another month to go. The only good thing with Mircette is that I am not having any cramping or mood swings like I had with Desogen. But I am definitely considering changing my pills again.
