Is there any evedence linking use of a combination of ibuprofen and acetaminophen to kidney disease?

I have a chronic painful condition, and take these two drugs several times each day.

you just named the actual condition it is called when your kidneys become damaged due to too much OTC med use. that IS the name of it. it can lead to kidney damage over time when you use way too much of this stuff, even just within Rxing guidlines but in a very chronic way. how much exactly do you use of these meds daily? that IS kind of the key here.

the thing is,there are so many different things that can create a higher or lower risk of this actually occuring. some can be genetic or just the way your body physiology actually is. some people can take the "average' daily dose and be within the guidelines and are mixing different OTC,or even Rx meds along with them, and can have no real damage to show for it,and others can do the very same thing and have alot of damage. just seeing your doc from time to time for a full lab work up and even an ultrasound would show any real affectation to your kidneys. but your functions should be periodically checked.

if you could just tell me what it is you are taking everyday and how much of it,it would really help.Marcia

idk if there is but my kidney's pretty much failed due to an accidental OD on ibeprophen i steer clear of that unless completely necessary. i mean i was sick for months for how bad this pain was. i get relapses when i take it or something is antagonizing my kidneys. make sure u ask your doctor or NP about whats safe and what isnt

My Neph told me there was a chance my kidney function was lowered by past use (not really excessive) of NSAIDS.

And, to never, ever use them again. No Aspirin. Tylenol in small doses if I had to use anything. OTC, that is. If I needed a prescription for pain, have my Dr. check for possible condications with KD. Well, ANY KIND of prescription.

I would never take NSAIDS of any kind again, knowingly.

My Dr. questioned me closely about past use of Goody's powders. He said the combo of painkillers in that was not good at all. I've never used it in my life.
