I have been diagnosed as having a seizure disorder. I have not and will not be able to see a neurologist for it but am going through a GP that is great. He is willing to listen to me which is a big start from what I am use to. I was seen in the ER on easter Sunday for me not recovering after fainting a couple of seconds. Normally I recovered in about 40 minutes but it was several hours later and I was having odd bouts of feeling really out of it. The ER doctor is the one who said I was having seizures. So she sent me home with a prescription for Tegretol. I got it filled and started it on Monday. Unfortunately I am allergic to it. I broke out in hives and had to go to the ER on Tuesday. I saw my new GP yesterday and he started me on Dilantin. I am suppose to take 100 mg - 3x a day. This is all new to me and I am little on the unsure side. I have been having problems for years and been told I am crazy since my MRIs are fine etc. So now to be listened to and taken seriously it shocks me. Hopefully this is a new start for me and I can get back to some of the activities I enjoy. RIght now though the doctor said its just a matter of finding the right medicine for me. Got a follow up in 4 weeks.
The Dilantin as of now is not giving me too much problems. I am feeling a little funky from it but not bad really. I am taking my second dose in a couple of hours so will see how I feel then. I am just happy something is figured out now.
