Hi,

This is my first posting and I really need some advice. I am going out of my mind. At the end o January I was messing around with this guy. (we went there the whole what were you tested for and have you ever had anything speech and he said he was negative for everything, but he did tell me about a case he has when he was a teenager and how he caught gonorrhea from some girl who had a yeast infection.) Anyway, He performed oral sex on me, a number of times. He then tried to enter inside of me, but I stopped him because I wasn't quite ready (He entered part of the head) He apologized and that was that. The first week in March I noticed a small bump on the lip of my vagina, and it scared me. I called him and told him and he said it was probably a hair bump. I asked him again if he had anything and if he was tested or everything and he said he was fine but he'll get checked out again. Well he said he went to the doctor and they checked out everything and he was fine, but my bump was still there. After missing three days of work I went to the doctor and she told me the it was a wart. I almost passed out. She have me aldera to use. When I was walking out the nurse pulled me aside and said wait and let my regular doctor see it first because it could just be a hair bump, so I didn't use it. I tried popping it and I pulled a little piece of hair out, but nothing that I would think would cause the bump. Anyway, I went to my doctor last saturday and she said that nothing is there. She looked all around and all she sees is where I popped the bump. She said the other doctor may have thought it was a wart because it was raised but nothing is there anymore. NOW...I think I have everything. HIV commericals and signs are everywhere I go. It's now the last week in March and I had a cold and now my glands are swollen. The back of my throat is red, and looks swollen. I don't know if this is because I bit my gum several times during the week in the same spot, which caused an infection or I have HIV. I know he didnt go all the way inside me, but is it possible? I'm out of work again today because I keep crying, thinking I have HIV. I read that you can get HIV from pre-cum and even though he wasn't there for more than 3 seconds, and I don't know if there was any pre-cum, and even though he says he is negative, Can he be lying to me or am I insane now?

PS - I don't know too much about STD's. Just started being sexually active not too long ago and the last time I ever had sex was a year and a half ago. So all this scares me. And is it possible to have chlymedia (I read that it's the silent disease) I am never touching another human being again. BTW, the guy is laughing at me and doesn't understand why I'm freaking out.

an ingrown hair follical or an an inflamed sweat gland can be a little bump. Soaking in a hot bath with epsom salts usually helps. I wouldn't think the worst.....

Thank you for responding....It's gone away now. That's what I've been doing. But do you think its possible to catch HIVor anything else if he didn't insert all the way?

Hi there,

The answer is no. HIV is extremely difficult to transmit from person to person despite all the adverts you have seen and despite all the signs you may have.

The transmission of the HIV virus requires prolonged sexual exposure resulting in the exchange of bodily fluids. The highest percentage of HIV transmission is through a blood transfusion, i.e. direct blood to blood contact. It is statistically calculated at being between 500 and 1000 to one for it to be transmitted via prolonged sexual activity. What you describe is not prolonged; it would be better described as casual contact, which in itself carries very little risk. It is extremely unlikely you have contracted HIV through the circumstances you have described.

Hope this helps, take care Kevin.

Thank you so much Kevin. I really appreciate your post. I have swollen glands and my tonsils, especially the left one, where I bit my cheek is really swollen. So this is nothing I should worry about? My friend said she thinking is strep throat. I just got over being sick.

Hi There,

The question is, should you worry about being infected with HIV? In my opinion no you should not, but please understand this is just my opinion. I base my opinion on what I went though prior to being tested. It is very easy to self diagnose yourself, look for signs and symptoms; it is very easy to suddenly find things going on with your own body that you never noticed before. I can guarantee you 100% that had you looked at yourself before you would have found the same or other symptoms of HIV. This is because although there are recognised symptoms and signs of HIV, they are not absolute. Many of the signs are normal very day occurrences that every one of us get but never give it a second thought, but when you are looking, they will suddenly become issues, they will suddenly confirm what you fear. They do not, there is only one way to found out your HIV status and that is through a blood test. If you are really concerned, then please get yourself checked out. From what you have posted it is extremely unlikely you have HIV, a blood test is the only way to confirm this.

Take care Kevin
