Hello,
I do not have epilepsy but I could not find another forum to help me out. This January I hit my head really hard snowboarding that resulted in a front lobal bruise that made me have some bad seizures. I am now on Dilantin and have been seizure free since Jan. 18th. I feel completely normal and I am doing all my normal activities again. My finance has been saying that I am twitching alot at night and that last night she thinks I had about a 10 to 15 second seizure. I did not wake up from it and she did not wake me up. I felt completely fine this morning. I have been taking my medicine 1 hour earlier than I used to because of the recent time change. Is this enough to make me have some seizures? Also, does Dilantin cause you to twitch in your sleep enough to seem like a small seizure even though I feel completely normal when I am awake?

hi brandon,

if you change your dose time by only one hour or even several hours there should not be any impact. i did have a little bit of a strange feeling when i changed my dose 12 hours to test if taking in the morning was better than at night. i have also read that after a dose level change it takes 4-5 days for the dilantin level to adjust to a steady level. you know all these meds have all kinds of side effects and that could also be a part of the event as well as your dose level. i would advise you to see your neuro if this continues.

hang in there!

Hey, if you have a Nocturnal (night) Seizures, most of the time you are going to feel normal the next day. Sometimes you might have a chewed tonge or a headache. You may need to get a Sleep EEG. As far as meds go, you have to adjust and switch meds sometimes because they work for a while and then sometime just stop. To give you an idea, they have changed my meds 6 times in the last 9 years. I am sure it will not be my last.

by the way, taking the meds an hour earier shouldn't make you have a seizure. Not having enough med. in your system can cause you a seizure. You may be doing this already but you need to get blood work to check your levels.
