Howdy all-
Well kind of anyway, out of the fifty thousand or so people with HCV in this Province, and only fifty Full Pegasys/Ribavarin treatments being given out, I, ME, NEIL, LOST1, is one of them.

I just found out, I will receive the Pegasys, bloodtests, check ups, monitering, DR vists, etc all for FREE, the only thing it will cost me is the driving to the city.

This is the actual treatments, closely moniterd, but not a "study" as such, that may have placebo's,etc, the results from these actual fifty will probebly weigh on our FDA's desison, its a full 48 week package, but IF I am not responding at 12 weeks, they will discontinue the treatment, so no treatment damage will be done to the patients, [ME].

Quite a unique Chirtmas present don't you think?, $27.000.00 dollars just for the Pegasys/Rivarin alone, its real sudden for me without a lot of real time to prepare, as the Pegasys treatment will not be available here until summer 2003 but I have been preparing for this since last spring, its not like making up your mind to treat, then knowing the day, week, month your going to start.
A couple of days after chirstmas I will be fully checked over and have all the tests, and will start probebly in the first week of the new year, which is a little over three weeks.

This is somthing I just can not turn down, even if I was reluctant to try treatment at this time, if I am ever going to treat, now is the time, the cost is right, outstanding care at one of the countrys leading hospitals,if not the # 1, care under professional liver specialist's.
It surpasses going with treatment, that will cost a lot, even with healthcare help, and doing it under care from a country Doc that you taught more about HCV then he taught you.

Well Neil, congratulations!!!! You HAVE won the lottery!

It IS meant to be or you wouldn't have been chosen. Our lives are all worked out for us.

I know I felt some trepidation when my NP told me she would submit my name for free PegS and I thought "gee, am I really ready for this?". I hope we can share this journey together and compare aches and pains like to old people.

Go for it! Opportunity knocks, it doesn't beat the door down http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

hey there lost 1.......
congrats to you, i am so happy for you http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif.my step son has moved down here from thunder bay.he's doing a course at the colledge and if all goes well he should have a job the first week in jan/03.we finally found a place,we decided to go with a condo. we are both happy with it and think that it is nice.our closing date is jan.24/03.the papers were signed on dec.7th(my b-day), my husband looked over at me and said (happy birthday). oh i can't express the exhaustion looking around for a place, but i think that you could imagine. it's like i'm drained,i am having a terrable time with the arthritis acting up with this kind of damp/cold weather. but some days i snail around and other days i just don't have the energy.we got a kitten over a month ago and he's a handful. his name is nipper, and i would very much appreciate even 1/3 of his energy http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/biggrin.gif,he keeps the big one busy also, he will enjoy the new place when we move in as he will be no doubt flying around.i thought that i should check in and see how everyone is doing, i always think about you all.
keep the faith,bless you...mj.

HEYA Howdy -JJ and MJ
Well its good to here from you two, I had thought maybe you both moved to Hawaii, and were living in grass huts on the beach with no com-putor, HAAA , been busy huh, well at times it gets that way, one good thing about that it keeps your mind off this HCV stuff, but I missed you both.

MJ- congrads on buying your condo, the best thing on a condo is the low maintanance, gives you time for the better things in live. the kitten on the other hand-wholly NOT low maintanance- he he- ahh pets are good for the soul, enjoy.
well thank you both for the kind words and hope to hear more from both of you.
till then be well +
