I've had IBS-D forever it seems and two years ago was hospitalized with diverticulitis. Was on IV antibiotics while in the hospital and oral when I got out. No surgery.
My stomach had been 'okay' for a bit (meaning I could actually get out of the house most days in the afternoon). Last Thursday, I did a no no and had a salad for lunch. Within 20 minutes of finishing it, my stomach went crazy and I rushed to the toilet. It felt like someone stuck one of those air plungers down my throat and pressed the trigger. Everything came flying out.
Felt pretty lousy afterwards which is the norm for me. Skipped dinner, drank some tea. In bed that night I felt as if my intestines were inflated, bruised, irritated. Does anyone get that feeling when you lay on your tummy and say 'ohoh, better roll over' because of the tenderness?? This is usual for me after having such explosive D. Usually a day or so the tenderness goes away.
Friday I had pain and tenderness in the left side of my stomach, even with my naval. No fever, no bloody mucus like I had with diverticulitis (I've been taking my temp every 15 minute it seems!!) The pain I had was much lower in my stomach. Today the pain is right under my ribs to just below my naval. Very tender. Hurts when I move. Still no fever, bms have been okay. I have an appetite, am not nauseous, but get terrific cramps when I eat.
My doctor is not on call this weekend and I hesitate to go to the ER on a weekend. I should also say that I helped my Mom move her frig on Tuesday and moved a lot of her groceries around, even thou nothing hurt when I did it, maybe I pulled something?
Sorry for the long ramble...I just don't know if I should be concerned about it being diverticulitis again.
Any insight/calming words lol appreciated!
