I have suffered with ibs for years....most recently, it hadn't been too bad. Back in June, I got this horrible attack, and I've had about 6 of them since then, all equally as terrible. It starts with lower abdominal cramping (usually after I've experienced many days of constipation, which is my fault, because I am sometimes not aggressive enough with my fiber) and then almost instantly, my stomach area bloats...I start belching and then I get the most excrutiating PAIN. I then typically break out into a sweat (probably adrenaline based) and about half of the time I vomit whatever I recently ate, the other half, I just burp and burp something fierce, and then the toilet episodes begin. These "attacks" last about 2 hours, start to finish, and I sometimes think I might just die in the middle of them. My gasto said it's not an uncommon thing I am describing and the best way to avoid it, is to keep my bowels moving so this won't happen.
Last week, it took me 4 days of using Benefiber 3 times a day until anything finally happened for me. Does anyone have any suggestions of things that will help me be more regular? I have gotten so if I feel any tummy discomfort at all, I am afraid to eat!!!! I am trying to eat more fruits and green vegetables for starters, but I do think I need a daily supplement as well.
Oh, and I do not have my gallbladder...it was removed in 1994.
