Wallis86 03-31-2008, 04:00 PM The first rheumatologist visit isn't something to be worried about. They will most likely start by taking your vital signs, then do a complete (really complete) medical and family history. Depending on how long you've been ill, this could take a while. Afterwards, they will do a physical exam. They will manipulate your joints A LOT, stretch you and probably take some measurements of your flexion. It's likely they will order some blood work and x-rays, but those will probably be done out of office. After the exam and all the history, if the doctor is able ot make a diagnosis, he will, otherwise he will discuss his findings and tell you his thoughts (ask if he doesn't) and you will have to wait for the test results for a full diagnosis. Good luck and I hope it works out. |
