I tested positive for HPV recently. It's one of the kinds that's aggressive. My gynecologist told me no sex with my fiance without condoms, or else he would just keep infecting me as my body is trying to get rid of the virus. He said in the meantime, have my fiance go to a urologist and that if he had it, the urologist would get rid of it.
My fiance went to the doctor today to get a referral. The doctor told him it doesn't make a difference if he wears the condom or not, I'm already infected and my body won't get rid of the virus, it'll just become dormant. I would think since my gynecologist has dealt with this about 1000 times, he'd know what he's saying. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Your fiances dr. is right. Once you both have it you can't keep re-infecting each other. And I don't believe there is a test for men for high risk hpv.

I can't believe he would tell you something so obviously contrary to what all the other experts are saying (CDC, Health Canada, etc.)
Once you are infected, you are infected. You can't get the same strain again from your partner, only new strains from new partners. Wearing a condom will do nothing. Also, a urologist will not get rid of your bf's hpv if he has virus. He may be able to get rid of any visible warts, but not the virus. Your doctor needs to go back to school :dizzy:
