Is anyone using the ParaGuard? It's a non-hormonal IUD that releases copper into your body as a birth control method. Can anyone give me their experiences? Does anyone know if the copper is bad for the body?

It's a non-hormonal IUD that releases copper into your body as a birth control method. Can anyone give me their experiences? Does anyone know if the copper is bad for the body? i just got the paragard about 2 months ago and its been great. a little cramping the first 2 days. i had a very heavy period the first month, but the second one lightened up and im hoping it to get even lighter. as far as i know, copper is not dangerous, unless you have an allergy to copper (wilson's disease). we naturally have copper in our bodies. if youre in a monogomous relationship, i would definitely recommend paragard. i have absolutely nothing to worry about, no pills, no hormonal craziness,.. its awesome LauraLu 04-12-2008, 05:00 PM I highly recommend it! Worry free, hassle free, I love it! jlkelly60 04-14-2008, 01:23 PM I have been using Paraguard for the last 5 years. My periods have been heavier, and I have had no cramping, however, it never bothered me, because, I was happy using a birth control that was 99.6 - 99.9% effective, and it put no hormones in my body. However, after my last annual when I was told everything was in place, I got pregnant. So I'm not sure about the claims that they offer on the effectivness. dancergal19 04-14-2008, 03:02 PM I'm very interested in finding a non-hormonal birth control method. Does paraguard have any side effects? Also - can guys feel it during sex? I know some guys can feel the nuva ring and it bothers them. |
