Anyone? I'm desperate at this point. I also have fibromyalgia and other pain causing health problems but I woke up at 4:30 the other morning after taking just ONE pill and thought someone had beat me in my sleep. I hurt 100x worse than I normally do. I have Crohn's disease, but I have chronic constipation from the use of pain medications. Can anyone tell me if you have joint and muscular pain from this med that is literally debilitating?!?!?! Please help! I need something to work for this constipation but not at this cost!!!

I was just looking up the side effects of Amitiza but didn't notice body pain being a side effect. I did notice you are not supposed to take it if you have gallstones. I have GS & the dr that prescribed it knows this. Now I'm afraid to take it. I wish I knew what to tell you. It could be you're just coming down with the flu or other virus. The pain should go away in 24 hrs if it's from the Amitiza if you don't take another pill.

It was the Amitiza. I called the GI's office and they said they've had a few patient's with the same type symptoms, except I have fibro and I think I got a double whammy. I WAS MISERABLE! I stopped taking them and within about 36 hours I was back to normal!!!! So, now its back to Miralax for me which really doesn't work! All that just to have a normal BM! Amazing!!!

I'm glad you found out what was causing your pain. Have you ever had any problem with the Miralax? I've heard so many bad things about it, how it is the same as anti freeze & my allergist verified it. He told me I shouldn't take it but that's what the GI told me to drink for my colon prep. Do you ever get the feeling it's just not worth it? Good luck.

YES!!! I'd never heard the antifreeze thing! Geez, my gastro said it was safe, but then they told me I wouldn't have a problem with the Amitiza either! I've taken Miralax before and it takes a while to work, but today, after 4 doses, I finally went like a normal person!

I can't take MOM because it's just NASTY...even the Raspberry, Cherry, etc. The way it sits on my stomach makes me sick for a good 24 hours and I HATE that feeling. At least the miralax is easy to take, doesn't make me feel sick or full and I don't have to stick anything up my butt to go! LOL

It's IS really hard, but ya gotta poop, ya know? So what are ya gonna do? Get so backed up you can barely zip your jeans or take something that at least does help relieve it a bit? :(

My Dr gave me samples of Amitiza for IBS. I took it twice a day for two weeks. I was extremely bloated and had the taste of "laxative". I had more normal bowel movements but cannot stand being so bloated. My insurance doesn't pay for it. I am not taking it anymore. I don't think the dr's know the side affects yet.
