View Full Version : Pegasys Shot # 1 1- Day 1

Howdy all-
I have been busier than all the critters with spring fever, I would just check in quickly to keep track of everyone, but have not had time to post, no fever in my cabin.

Shot # 11, One more to go to the first hurtle, shot #12 now dictates if you will do the full 48 wks being a genotype 1A, which is a good thing, if treatment is doing NO good for you at 12 weeks, they terminate treatment,
They just used to let you do the full 48 weeks regardless, another fact that they found out by brave souls enduring treatments, with results improving our present treatments, far from perfect, but at least improving, as we pioneer these treatments.

Well I did my shot last night watching Fear Factor, when Joe put cockroaches, worms and various other live bugs in a blender, and proceeded to make a bug shake for the poor contestants, he he, it was great, as I watched them gag, my pittaly little shot seemed insignificant, making it easy and no big deal.

Nothing new, for sides, my wife said I have been a little quick tempered the last week, well it is probably was because of all the new foot of snow and storms coming though, HEY- and from the South no less,
he he

Had my Grand baby son, all weekend, who I like to call----MINI-ME he he, anyway we went and played in the snow, we went quading [ATV], hunting wascaly wabbits, [be verwy qwiwite], shot our bows, went fishing, hiking, he is three and a half.

well wholllly, the way I ciphered it, 48 hrs with a grand baby, with the energy of ten, is like hiking around the world 298,642,000,000, times, he he, I was so beat on Sunday evening when he went home, I said "thank God" when his mom drove out the driveway, but by time I got to the door I was already missing him big time, he he, funny how that works.

I know of quite a few people switching from Peg-Intron and others to Pegasys lately, because the others are statistically said to be a little harsher than the Pegasys, many had positive effects immediately, with fewer sides, some also did not change much either, but again some are just not tolerant to any treatment

Next week the Specialist will take my blood personally for the "after the big # 12 shot", and I will find out if I will continue, -which I think I will and could do standing on my head, --ok would you believe -sitting in my easy chair? he he
HOOOOOOYA

I cannot wait for this new snow to be gone, its going fast, and its getting warmer; I have a ballzillion things I want to do outside.

At # 11, I still find that if I feel any sides coming on, I chug back at least one bottle of water and the symtoms disappear immediately, that’s cool.

I also found out the protocol from the Pegasys treatment here, was the normal suggested amounts of Tylenol, [on the bottle] with no damages or bad effects, [this did not include people with a high stage or cirrhosis]
although suggested to limit the Xtra Tylenol unless in you were in great pain, which I still have not taken a full daily limit, though the study they found that some had good success with one 200 mg Ibphophene and one regular Tylenol, the mixture was a great recipe for all the sides, both head aches and joint pain, again remember to talk to your Doc before taking or changing any drugs.

If I have sounded over defensive lastly, I apologize, to anyone that may have taken offence, anything I stated was not meant to be offensive, must have been that damn storm keeping us indoors for a week, when its spring and we are supposed to be running though the fields naked and stuff. He he

Hope all your family members come home safe and quick.
Be Positive be well, +

Neil, It sounds like you are doing really good! It's really great that you can spend time with your grandson and get out and teach him things! Spring vacation is getting near here for students and i have hopes of taking my daughter to my favorite fishing spot http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have a very good feeling that you are clearing the virus especially since you are remaining active.

Would you really stop the treatment if there is still an amount of virus that hasn't been eliminated? i'm thinking that there must be some measurement that is would consider you as responding even if you aren't completely undetectable at 12 weeks.

I have much confidence that you are going to be clear after 12 weeks!

I am always uplifted after reading your reports during your progress!

I wish that you weren't considering the 12 week report to be the make or break point in your treatment. You know that everyone is different and i try not to put too much weight on statistics, especially for a subject that that has so much more facts to be known.

Anyway, I am very happy for you that you are maintaining an active and happy life during your tx!

God bless us all!

Wes

Hi Neil,

Well, Well finally heard from you....thought you were avoiding us....teeeheee!

Glad to hear no new sides. I'll be crossing fingers, toes, legs and all that for you for shot #12 and blood work.

Oh NOOooooooo....there's another "you" out there running around...teeehheeee, just kiddin'! Aren't kids fun when they aren't yours? When I watched my Grand-Niece (age 2)the other night it was great, we gave her what she wanted, we let her scream when she wanted---no biggy if she gets cranky or intolerable then just her back to Mom, it's GRrrreat! My niece asked why she didn't eat her pizza and I simply said "she didn't want to but loved the pretzels" and proceeded to tell her it's MY JOB to spoil...her job to discipline.I earned that right!

She came to dinner the other night for my birthday and since it was help yourself we helped her to all kinds of goodies...she loved it, probably went home sugared up but "not my problem", we had a good time....teeeheee! She was so cute, hated to see her go...so I know what ya mean about missing them.

Let's see...it's going to be 78 here today, yesterday was in the 80's...SNOW, what's that? Is that the white fluffy stuff that other people get? Spring is a comin', hold your horses---you'll be out bushwacking it before you know it.

Interesting about the Tylenol. I still keep hearing conflicting stories. Luckily Hubby hasn't needed it (crossing my fingers) so it hasn't been an issue for us.

Neil.....you bad boy, did you offend someone? Twasn't me but then again I have some tough skin. Don't worry about it, it's hard enough being on treatment then being stuck inside when your an outside person, it takes it's toll.

Glad everything is going good....nice to hear from you.

hi neil http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif
i'm so glad that the pegasys is going well for you, and you are a great inspiration to me when i was making my decision.i have been reading all of your updates, and it seems to be the "route to go"(pegasys).grand kids are a blessing, we just recieved some pictures of our grandson's 7th birthday party http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif.he lives in thunder bay.and then there are 3 girls also.just the same they are a great joy to be around.before we moved to london here, every weekend our grandson would come over and stay until sun. afternoon.we sure do miss them since we moved.when he'd be at our place he would "take over"hehe.he loved it at our place as he could get away with things that he couldn't at home.(limited of course).just the same though when it was time for him to go home, i don't know who would frown the most "us" or "him" hehe.your doing great neil and an inspiration to alot of others as well.
keep the faith, bless you...........mj

Hi Lost,

Just got back from doing a road trip in semi with hubby. Glad all is going great for you still. You are truely an inspiration. I do have a question for you, how are your white cell counts doing? Mine took a dive and they have lowered the injection doseage. Then I go in again for another blood work up and see if it has helped. Sure did depress me about lowering the doseage. My hubby stated that when I go to the dr. next time to get on anti-depressants. Guess I was getting pretty intolerable, red-head to boot. I didn't notice it so much being at home by myself. He stated much worse than the menopause attitude I had and thought that was worse enough. Grandchildren are the best. I have four and it sure is hard to see them go home. None of them live in the same state as I do, so I am always on a mission when they are here to spoil them rotten. I have two of them coming up during their spring break Easter weekend. I seem to be rambling, sorry. Here's to spring in the north.

Howdy folks-
WES-
Hiya Freind, good to see you up and about, how are you doing, it would be great to hear an full update from you, sides, veiws, wisdom etc.

To answer a question, no I would not even consider quitting if there is any responce, the protocol of this Pegasys treatment is IF your viral count and other levels have not improved,by the 12 th week then they terminate your treatment, as they have found that the vass majority will be non respounders in 48 wks if they were in twelve wk PCR.

If you show any respounce in viral, blood levels, and liver counts then they will encourage you to do full term, 48 wks for geno 1A's.

I dont really consider that tlweve wk a break point, as I know I am doing full term, Hooooya
its their protocol.

I hope things are well with you, do not be such a stranger.
