Sponsor smiteler 04-03-2008, 11:00 AM Is it possible that during blood withdrawal, to get infected with HIV. Searching for responses. what do you exactly mean by blood withdrawl??? jasmin_a 04-03-2008, 01:41 PM Blood withdrawal meaning, blood extracted from the veins for laboratory testing. smiteler 04-03-2008, 02:31 PM from the actual drawing itself ...no people have been infected by getting pricked after the drawing, as some blood will be trapped in the needles hollow point and then they get pricked by that same needle. you cannot get infected by just getting tainted blood on your skin. you need to have a blood to blood contact of some sort for it to be passed on. jasmin_a 04-03-2008, 03:30 PM how long an HIV virus can survive in the blood if trapped in the needles hollow point. Thank You for the earlier info. smiteler 04-03-2008, 08:13 PM i don't know the amount of time. but its alot longer then if its in the air (it will die quickly within less then a min. in the air) the needle will give it a protected environment from the air that will allow it to live much longer.so i would guess maybe a few mins or more. donated blood can carry it for months because its in a protected environment. |
