fallenangel81 04-03-2008, 04:00 PM I just got my bc yesterday. It is yasmin. Can I just start taking it now or do I need to wait for my tom??? demo_girl99 04-03-2008, 04:13 PM You would start it the Sunday after your period starts. I'm not sure how they tell you to take it as a non-Sunday start, but it should say right in the directions. fallenangel81 04-03-2008, 05:23 PM well that suck becuze i just ened mt tom this past sunday!! could i take it anyways?? i dont want 2 wait a whole other month!!:( Kszan 04-04-2008, 09:12 AM If you start taking it now, you're going to mess up your cycle, and it could take a while to get it back on track. If you want to risk having a messed up cycle for several months, then go ahead and start whenever you want. But the reason why the directions clearly state to start on the Sunday after your period or the first day of your period is to keep your cycles on the same schedule. You have to keep in mind that when you start messing around with hormones, you're going to have problems. And every woman who has posted on here about starting the pill for the first time on the wrong day has complained endlessly about all of the problems that happened as a result. So I'm just warning you that you could be in for a lot of trouble if you don't wait and take it as directed. fallenangel81 04-04-2008, 04:02 PM ok well then I will wait, but what is the difference between taking them on the Sunday after your period or the first day of your period..is one way better than the other?? kittywitty 04-04-2008, 05:39 PM Neither way is better than the other, it just depends on you and how you want to start them. The only difference between the two ways is that with starting it the first day of your period (Day 1 start), you're protected against pregnancy right away. Whereas, with starting it the Sunday after your period starts (Sunday start), you have to use a backup method of protection (condoms, foam, etc.) for the first seven days of the first pack, and after that you're protected provided you took those first seven pills correctly and on time. Some people like to use a backup method for the entire first month, though, when using this method, just to be safe. It's up to you. I, myself, always did the Sunday start when I was on the pill and just used backup for the first seven days and I was fine. All of this should be explained in the leaflet that you got with your pills. |
