If anyone has any insight on this please help! I recently went to the doctor because I am bruising very easily he then ran a liver enzyme test sent me a letter stating that it was slighly eleveated and wants to retest in 3 months he does not really give me any info I had recently up until this letter been a binge drinker about 4 drinks a day I also have a hemangeoma that measures 3.3cm I was diagnosed with that last year! I am just wondering if this could make my liver levels off I also take an aspirin a day and have heard that could also make it read off. I dont know please help I am scared that I have damaged my liver from drinking! I stopped drinking and dont think or feel like I will pick it up again :

Stop all alcohol consumption for 6 months and get tested again...4 drinks a day is a lot in terms of your liver.

Ann, I have stopped all drinking as I know that this is bad for the liver and I spoke with my dr and explained to him that I was a drinker he too thinks that we definatley need to retest in 3 months to see if there is any damage thanks for your advise :)

Then my liver must be messed up. I used to drink a quart of vodka a day....

Everyone is different. 4 drinks a day in the minimum by medical standards at which one could develop cirrhosis at some point in there lifetime. Unless you've been drinking that amount for 50 years I doubt you would have any permanent damage. Of course some peoples livers are more compromised genetically, therefor it can be possible sooner, but rare. If they are only slightly elevated Hep C would be less likely (get checked anyway). They should also check your mitochondrial AB levels as well as your ferritin.

Have you ever had you LFT levels checked or an ultrasound?

Eric, I have had a couple of utltra sounds on the liver and gall bladder they say I have the hemangeoma on the liver and the gall bladder is enlarged but not enough to worry about! yet I still have this pain in my upper quadrant that never goes away, it will go away for couple of days then comes back. I spoke to my dr. last week he thinks that he may do a ct scan instead he said that the last ultra sound I had they could no see the hemangeoma so they dont really mention it,sometimes I am a little uneasy about the medical world! but thanks for the imput on the drinking it makes me feel better I still have not had a drink I dont intend to and I get my blood checked again in 3 months the dr said it could be the drinking and that if it is then my levels should go down some next time if I have stopped all drinking wich that is what I intend to do! my father in law died in July from chirrosis he had hep and never took care of it, I was his main care taker the last 3 months and I have never seen such a painful death!

Make sure your doc looks into other causes of your elevated enzymes. You weren't such a heavy drinker and you've stopped for a while now so my guess is that it may not be your drinking that is causing it. A lot of docs these days seem to not look too deep into things until you push them to do so. I also have some burning like pain on my right side ab, comes and goes. LFT's, ultrasounds, ct scans normal. It could be gall bladder but my gastro has not ordered a HIDA scan which I think I should have. Also, the liver itself doesn't create pain on its own as it does not have nerves. That's why often people with liver problems are usually unaware until significant damage has been done. So keep getting it evaluated until the cause has been determined. Best.

Eric I will keep pushing until I find out the cause you can be assured that and I will keep you informed on what is going on thanks for every thing :)

I had the bloodwork done and the doctor said I was OK. I still worry sometimes, though.

I have since gotten my drinking in check..

Milk thistle can help in repairing a damaged liver---you can get it at walmart or any grocery store. Look in the vitamin section----good luck to all, I know all to well about alcohol addiction :(
