Hi all
My condition is a bit complicated so i will try to explain it as much to the point as i can.
About five years ago i started having injury like pain after the gym. Although the pain eased after a few days, when i agrevated the particular area the pain came back and a tendernes always remained in the particular area.
The alarming part is that about three years ago i started having extensive nerve like pain throughout my body from toenails to heavy pain in the upper jaw, that in most cases results in headaches.
Most of my my muscles seem to be tender (a lot more than the average person) and if i hurt them by doing every day things, this triggers a nerve like shooting pain that will not go away for months. I mean every day simple things like a firm hand shake or wearing tight shoes to mention just a few.
I really have been misdignosed several times and honestly i dont know what on earh is the problem, causing me a lot of stress and limiting my activities to a minimum.
Any sugestions as to what can the cause be and what kind of doctor should i see?
Sorry for the long story i just tried to be as descriptive as possible.
THX

maximus, Welcome, to the fibro boards. What kind of dr's have you seen? It sounds like you have a couple of things going on, but all of them go along with fibromyalgia. Do you have tmj, and migraines?
From what you have written it does sound like fibro. I was diagnosed by my regular family doctor, but you can also go to a rhuematologist. I think that they treat and are most knowledgeable about fibromyalgia. I would call a rhuematologist, and ask if they treat fibro.
I am sorry you have been going through this, and I know what it feels like when a handshake even if it is not that hard, it still sends pain through your hand and arm. Also, your body feels like one big bruise.
Here is a great place to come and get some advice and support. We all hope we can help you and some of the most wonderful people are here and have had fibro for much longer than I have.
Good luck,
Kassandra

Someone else also suggested it might be MFS. I really cant tell. Yes i do get a lot of migranes that originate from trigger points in the upper jaw area. I can treat it so far with simple analgesics such as aspirin but it really keeps coming back. Also i am not confident to engage in physical activities since it usually agrevates greately the condition. As i said simple things like wearing a bit tighter shoes can and does become a big issue. Some things that people take for granted i cant.
Some people have also mentioned accupancture as a treatment. Any news on that?

Maximus, I know what you mean about simple things. I am taking it easy today, and I love my heated throw. If you don't have one I suggest you get one. I can have a good pain day if I don't move. Crazy huh?
I would love to try acupunture and also a massage geared towards fibro, and MPS. Maybe I will call today or Monday.
I hope you have a great day, and on Monday, I would open the phone book and start calling around.

Hello maximus,
Your symptoms sound like FM. I know what you mean when you mention a tighter pair of shoes. My toenails hurt a lot and so do my finger nails. I would like to sugest that you stay as far away from stress as you can. Stress really doesn't help. It's really bad for FM.
I agree that a lot of people take life without pain for granted. Usually I wouldn't hesitate when someone asked to go play volleyball or whatever. Now, I have don't even have to think twice. I know now that I can't do any physical activities. I work with my physio to guild me to be able to use the trendmill. This changes your whole prospective of life.
I really sugest that you see someone.
I hope you know that you're not alone. Feel free to write as often as you want or need. We can answer a lot of your questions or if you feel anything new and you're not sure if it's FM or not.
Take care,
M

Thanks for the great input. Yes most of my finger nails and toenails are in pain .
The worst part is that if i wear tighter shoes there can be a shooting pain right through my back. Most doctors i have talked to about it, dont even believe that a toenail can cause back (nerve like) pain. Not to mention that noone metioned FM as a possible cause.
Is therere a way to rule out MFS? What tets are there to determine which one of the two it is?
Thx :)
