I'm having problems with my Mirena IUD that I've had for six months now. Last Tesday I started cramping bad so I checked my string and it was almost hanging out of my vagina. So I went and got it checked and my OB said it seemed fine. Well then last night I got a sharp pain in my abdomen and started bleeding. I continued to cramp but the bleeding got better and by morning turned into a lite spotting. I was still cramping pretty bad so I checked my string. Now there is only about a half an inch hanging down so it is a whole lot shorter. My OB was closed so I went to Urgent care and they didn't check me because they don't know much about IUDs all they did was take a blood test to make sure I wasn't pregnant or had an infection. they said to wait until Monday but I'm really hurting. Does anyone know why my string would be so long it's hanging out my vagina to barely being there?
