Hello sma
Yes, I have heard of hand, foot and mouth disease. It is more common in young children than adults, but anyone can get it. My son, now 35, had it when he was just a toddler. He had ulcers in his mouth and bumps on the hands and feet. His mouth was very painful. All those years ago, doctors used to prescibe a tincture to paint on the sores in the mouth. It helped make them go away. I remember it tasted just awful and it was a major todo to get my son to allow us to paint the inside of his mouth each time. I can not remember why, but the tincture can no longer be prescibed. I remember the doctor telling us to be very careful in applying it and not to use more than he had told us in the mouth. It did not go on the hands or the feet.
I remember that the child felt pretty ill and it lasted a couple of weeks. Took a bit of a toll on him like having the flu would. It is a viral infection. Eventually, it cleared up and he was fine. It is very contagious, so be sure to follow extra good hygeine habits.
I am sorry you are dealing with this. My son was not a complainer generally, but this illness had him howling from the mouth sores. Hope you get well real soon. Keep a store of popsicles in the freezer to help ease the mouth pain.

It is common with young children although adults can also get it. It is highly contagious, but usually curable within a week or so.
