View Full Version : PegaSys Shot #2 Day 3

Jemah

Thought I would post my results for those of you that are interested.

I gave my shot on Friday night, took my tylenol and went to bed and slept all night long.

Woke up Saturday prepared to feel like another flu season hit and I felt great! I couldn't believe it!!! Not an ache in my body and felt totally normal (for me that is). Went shopping for hours and hours, came home and planted some more plants. Just had a great day. Sunday and today are the same. I even dug out the vial from the trash to make sure I didn't inject normal saline instead of Pegasys.

Only side so far is this rash on my hands and the back on my knees. Treating that with hydrocortizone.

I just want to thank the Lord Almighty for He is good and true to His Word!

Jeannie-
Hooooya, outstanding, its amasing huh, you actually feel better right away, as some of the HCV symtoms dissapear, the first couple of shots, I kept expecting the sides to worsten, but tonight is # 14 and I have spring fever, full of energy, happy, life is good, so I wish and hope the same for you,

Keep that positive attitude you have always had, that will be most helpfull, keep busy, lots o water, get outdoors, fresh air and exercise, even in the form of walking, you mentioned digging out the vial, after the third week, I asked my specialist, if there was any way that I had received a placebo, he he she assured me that what I am taking is full power Pegasys.

Did you talk to the Doc about the rash? I have long relaxing baths every morning, with a good quality bath oil, I wonder if that is why I do not have any skin rashs or sides?, once or twice a week I use a good scentless, oil free moisterizing cream on my hands and face, I was told to do that every second day, even if my skin was not too dry, but I have not had too,- only when I go play in muddle pudddles, he he.

Its great to see you cheerful and positive, you hang in there girl, if anyone of us is going to do this 100%, it is going to be you.

You have a great day, enjoy life, will be watching for your posts.

Keep being Postive, and be well Jeannie-

Awwwww, aren't you an old softy after all. Thanks for your encouraging words Neil. I truely am amazed at how well I feel. Maybe we just heard too many horror stories and didn't hear from the people that it goes well for.

This rash is driving me crazy not to mention quite attractive. Its little clusters of blisters and is a common side from the ribavirin. She said to try topical cream and if it gets worse will go with a cortizone shot. I take benedryl at night but talk about making you sluggish the next day and I only take one capsule. Who needs sleeping pills! I go in Friday for blood work so if its not better by then I will get the injection.

Neil what on earth are you going to do when Fear Factor takes a summer hiatus? You don't strike me as the "Joe Millionaire" type.

Has your blood work come back yet? I am anxious to know! Its all good buddy!!!!!!

Hi there jemah
Glad to hear you are doing great , sorry about the rash though we will keep an eye out for that as well.
My husbands energy started to pick up a bit on sunday, hopefully each week of injection gets a bit smoother for him. This is such a great gift to be able to read each others posts and the positive reading is such a huge help. I have checked out another site but this is by far the most uplifting. You hang in there girl and I look forward to keeping up with you . We are in control of this treament all the way!!!!!!

Jeannie R-
You are so right about not hearing about the good working therapys, there are other websites that I vist and everyone there is dying from treatment and six other dieases, its like a contest to see who can have the most/worst sides, then complain about it the best, I like the people though, they are good people, but it somtimes brings me down,I still post there so newbies will not think they are going to die if they try Treatment, hehe.

Well, lets make this the POSITIVE site, where you do not have to have all the sides, just because everyone else is, we WILL endeaver, HOOOOOYA.

Maybe I will tape "Survivor" for the mon shots, pretty mellow for the term "Survivor", heck they have it better than most of my camping for pure enjoyment adventures, he he, but they do get to eat some juicy tasty looking bugs now and again, also have a few Fear factors taped for backup, he he

Gotta ask about the Benodryl, does that help with the rash or sleep? really not sure although I have heard of benodryl helping with somthing other than sleep.

Your rash will likey level off when your body adapts to treatment, here's hoping that is the worst you will see of sides,

Be positive be well+

Well let's see, I bathed in caladryl lotion and now I am a pale shade of pink from head to toe. And I topped it off with Lanacort! Itchy Itchy! The rash looks better today.

The benedryl works great for sleep and I know Wes took it and my NP suggested I use if for a sleep aid also if I need to. It's not harsh on the liver and I know that some hospice nurses use maalox and liquid benedryl mix for patients who are nauseated so for those of you who get puny remember that!

I wish I could take it at work but it makes me entirely too sleepy.

Hey we had an earthquake this morning! Wow what a shock! (no pun intended) 4.5 on the scale.

Take care,
JeannieRee

Jeannie,

Wow...although I'm behind in posts...just wanted to tell you that your post has me teary-eyed........it's stupid, I know but...SO SO glad your shots are going good.

I'm only feeling this way because I know you were so nervous about starting this treatment and now to hear that you're doing so good....Welll.....sniff!sniff!

Gosh, the rash sounds awful. I hear it's pretty common---knock on wood Gerry hasn't gotten it. I also read on another site about a medication (orally) thats helping lots of people. Even if they said the rash didn't go away completely they mentioned it helped the itching better than topical creams.

I hope I can find the post to give you the name. Although I KNOW you don't want to take anymore than neccesary, other people are having good luck with this medication. Check with your doctor.

Take Care,
DD

Well I gave up and went to my primary care. Had to with according to my HMO.

This is a nightmare story so bear with me. The tech (I really hope she is not a licensed healthcare worker) was waaaaay out in space. I asked her what was wrong and she said she had a migrane. Whatever.....I think she's been tiptoeing in the narcotics cabinet. She tried to take my history and couldn't even form words! She finally, get this.....got up on the bed (oh yes she did) and laid down on her side to take my history! At that point I asked her to leave and she asked me not to tell the doctor or she would sent her home. (she needs to send her packing!) Needless to say I let my doctor know the minute she walked in. I thought her eyes were going to pop out of her head. I told her I didn't want that person handling anything to do with me. What a freak show!

Anyway, as to the rash, my primary is going to call my gastro because she doesn't know about the Pegasys. My gastro says that steroids can elevate viral load so now they want to run blood tests (don't know yet everything is thru voice mail)

The rash looks better (if you can call it that) Its more like little fluid filled blisters. I am such a weirdo! But if this is the only side I have to deal with I don't care. Other than looking like a freak and being high on Benedryl I feel great and can't really tell I'm on this stuff. God is good!

Thanks for your tears Susan that really warms my heart!
Honey if you can get me the name of that topical med I will be eternally greatful!

I'll keep ya'll updated

Hi Jeannie,

Wow,....Wow----did you walk into a soap opera or what? Don't know what I would have done if the nurse did that to me....I would have just sat there stunned!

Hope the doctor gets to the bottom of the rash. You're describing what some other people on another board described and they were given something for it.

Take Care,
DD
