If my wife test results a year ago were negative and one year later her hpv results tested positive does that mean one of use had another partner in that period .

No, it doesn't mean that either of you would have had to have been with someone else. HPV can lie dormant for years without being detected, so it's possible that your wife may have been infected years ago. Or you may be infected from years ago and gave it to her. There's no way to know for sure.
