I have had Fibro for many yrs but recently I have had these weird skin discoloration patches on my body??!! On my back I have a huge patch than is tannish(kinda looks like it's dirty, if that makes any sense?) and on my abdomen and chest dark brown& red lines that look veiny almost in a circular pattern and just recently it has spread down my arm. I thought it might be Tinea veriscolor so my doc gave me meds for it a few months ago but now it's worse.
ANY ideas what this is and if it is veriscolor anyone have any OTC or natural remedies that have worked well for them as the meds did not sit well with me.
PLEASE anyone!!!!! Getting freaked out and worried!!! Done sooo many searches on the web to figure it out and just got more frustrated!! Just trying to avoid going to another doc , being on a fixed income it's hard to afford all these doc visits!!
Much thanks to anyone that can shed some light on this problem!!!!

Hi Ann,
I'm new to this board but have had versicolor in the past. A doctor told me to use the dandruff shampoo Selson blue. Tea tree oil diluted may help also.
Hope this helps,
Deb

Thanks for both your replies!
To deb: did the dandruff shampoo get rid of the veriscolor and how to you use it? I, also read something about tea tree oil,.....how do you use it and how do you dilute it? Anything I read on it was not very specific about the amounts and application and duration of use?? And did it take long before you saw your skin improve??
Sorry for so many questions but thank you again for your reply!!!!

Just wondering if you've ever been tested for Lyme Disease? I'm not sure what all of your symptoms are, but some Lyme Disease can manifest in some really strange ways in people....and they may not find out they have it until years later.

Another thing to check into is SCLE, subacute cutaneous Lupus. Go to the lupus board and ask Veej about it, she has it and is very informative about it.

Hi Ann,
Sorry I'm late to reply. The shampoo seemed to help. You may be able to use any dandruff shampoo if the active ingredient is the same. It has been so many years since I had it, but it has not returned in 15+ years. I know lotrimin and some of the other antifungals are supposed to work, but I'm not sure how well. The tea tree oil does not have to be diluted unless you are sensitive to it. Just apply it to the areas at night before bed.
I hope this helps,
Deb
