Hi, I suffer from fibromyalgia, 2 bulging disc, one in the thoracic area and the other in the lumbar area. I have had neck surgery a few years ago and I have osteoarthritis and DJD. I also have diabetes and neuropathy as well. I have been going to a pain management doctor and have had injections at seperate times, one in my L-Spine, one in my T-Spine and a caudal. With each one, I did not feel any difference or relief. Has anyone experianced this and if so what was the next step for you?

Hi n2Prayer,
I have had three cervical spine injections (steroidal) for my deferred nerve pain. The first one gave some relief, but wore off within about a week. The second one did no good at all; in fact, I would say my pain was worse after the second one. The third one did the most good, and by taking Lyrica (150mg, 2x a day), my pain is somewhat under control (a low throb vs. a hot stabbing pain). I am told that this is not an uncommon reaction to this course of treatment. They were spaced out about 3 weeks apart. My last one was January 3.
I had also taken two rounds of oral steroids prior to the injections, but they did not do a thing.
Hope this information is helpful. I'm so sorry to hear of your suffering and hope that you get some relief soon. I'm sending prayers your way!

I, too, received spinal injections and had no pain relief from them. My understanding is that the steroid injections will only help you if you pain is being caused by inflammation. If you are having nerve pain, I doubt the steroid injections will do any good. Can you better describe your pain? What does your pm doctor say about your lack of relief?

did u have surgery also. i did on L 4-5 in 2000 and lots and lots of injections with no relief, now pain is worse and they are telling me need surgery on disk above L-4-5 and says have 3 herniated disc in cervical think ...well know 5...think the two below also..u can see it on mri. so confussed don't want any more surgeries, am 60 and don't bounce back quick anymore..this new dr. wants to do procedure called PDA (percuataneous disc astroplasty.....said it is old procedure from the 50's...that alone make me skeptical...my dr. that did surgery said to get second opinion, however am in small town now with not a lot of dr.s to choose from. anyone, would really like to hear if you have same and gotten good results. thanks
